Issue 6: Escape from Camp Run For Your Life
A little tour, as a treat

From L-R, Nick, Lily, Alex and Healey. They’re standing outside a graffitied wall and smiling at the camera in the sun.
Dear mates,
Lily here. It’s been a little while since we last sent you an update but we’ve been busy little bees in the meantime.
Thank you everyone who’s listened to our big fat nu-metal banger Sounds Like A You Problem. I’ve really enjoyed writing heavier stuff and getting stuck into some throat-shredding vocals recently. There’s a lot to shred your throat about at the moment. We played a brilliant gig with Bratakus back in February which just made me want to yell and stomp, plus seeing Yakkie and Problem Patterns tear up the Great Escape festival was mega inspiring.
SPEAKING OF WHICH!!
TOUR DATES
We’re slowly putting together a tour of the SOUTH (remember us?) and the WEST (hi, can’t wait to meet you!) plus an absolutely mega headline show in London. Somehow, having never played Trowbridge before, we’re now playing it twice in a year. We can’t wait!

Saturday 25 July - Dublin (tickets and venue tba)
Friday 14 August - Brighton, the Pipeline (tickets tba)
Sunday 15 August - The Exchange Basement, Bristol with support from Long Neck and Desperate
Thursday 27 August - Signature Brew, Haggerston (London) with support from Yakkie
Friday 25 September - The Pump, Trowbridge (tickets tba)
Saturday 26 September - Le Pub, Newport (tickets tba)
We filmed a fun mini-set at CTRL+P!
We popped down to CTRL+P to do a couple of songs and have those lovely boys Sox and Josh from Tugboat Captain film them for us!
The studio is so cute and Sox and Josh went really out of their way to make everything stress free and fun for us. We’re all a bit awkward on camera but they were so enthusiastic and full of ideas that it was just a lovely afternoon and I wanna go back and do it again. You can book them for recording or filming or anything you like.
Here’s Canines straight into Eating for Two! Stagecraft!
We’ve now got No Souvenirs on vinyl available to buy from our Bandcamp!
Way back in the olden golden days of, er, 2024 we put out our third album, No Souvenirs. For the first time you can now buy the gorgeous paddling pool blue vinyl on our Bandcamp.
I want it, give me it!

Stuff we’ve been listening to, reading, and watching
Lily
I’ve been dedicating a lot of time to Amyl and the Sniffers recently. Even that Fred Again remix of Big Dreams. I really like when bands are scary live and Jerkin’ is the ideal song to listen to before playing your own gig, going to work, smashing a police car up with a cricket bat, etc. I’m seeing them in Dublin with Beth Problem Patterns in a few weeks and I’m counting down the MINUTES. Can also confirm that the new Tugboat Captain single, Us & The Moon is absolutely beautiful and on repeat atm.
I also recently finished reading Permanence by Sophie Mackintosh and loved it. I think it’s my favourite of hers. There are so many parts of it I want to steal for lyrics and so much to chew on thinking about love and infatuation and then suddenly, out of nowhere, having the very, very worst ick. It’s gorgeous, go read it.
Alex
Some new sounds: Wendy Eisenberg self-titled, Hen Ogledd DISCOMBOBULATED, The Lemon Twigs Look for Your Mind!
Some old sounds: Björk Debut, Angelo Badalamenti Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, Queens of the Stone Age self-titled
Bit of the year: when the beat drops (Jeff Parker ETA IVtet “Happy Today”)
Second best bit of the year: “Fuck it!” (American Football “Patron Saint of Pale”)
A couple of good books: Daniel Kehlman The Director, Sam Wasson Improv Nation
A couple of good films: Mother Mary (2026), Chinese Roulette (1976)
Healey
Huge fan of the new Felicette album Plasticine Heart if you like Juliana Hatfield you will ADORE this album. Other than that i’ve only been listening to new the Muna album and the Mother Mary soundtrack. I’ve not read anything in months but I did go see The Devil Wears Prada 2 and had a perfectly nice time.
Nick
Still Mainlining Rosalia after seeing her spellbinding show at the O2 earlier in the month. Back on my Arctangent playlist bullshit ahead of the festival in August, which has meant listening to lots of Sikth in the year of our lord 2026, as well as other noisy bois, and it’s getting me very excited to see Cardiacs having been a massive fan of them for about 10 minutes now!
Also read & loved Permanence!

From L-R: Nick with headphones on sitting behind a drumkit; Lily with her hands on her hips smiling at Alex and with a guitar; Alex holding a guitar and in the middle of speaking. They’re in a cosy studio surrounded by guitars and other instruments.
Other bands/gigs we're excited to go and see
Healey’s other band Tomboy Grandpa just put out a gorgeous single dedicated to West Side Story trans icon Anybodys! They’re playing at the Waiting Room in Stoke Newington next Friday 29 May. Get tickets here. I’m (Lily) supporting with a Fightmilk solo set too so get down early for some deep cuts.
Not a gig, per se, but if you’ve got the chance, go see Philosophy of the World - an unbelievable new play about fame, fate and The Shaggs, by the awe-inspiring theatre group In Bed With My Brother - which is coming off tour for a final stretch at The Yard in Stratford in July. Alex caught it in Bristol the other week and won’t shut up about it.
As always, thank you for being a frend.
